European Cetacean Society
36th Annual Conference in Azores
Graphic Design & Art Direction & Visual Communication for Scientific Conferences
For the 36th Annual Conference of the European Cetacean Society,
held in 2015 on São Miguel Island (Azores, Portugal), I was responsible
for the full visual and creative direction of the event.
My work included the complete graphic design of the conference,
on site exhibition and spatial graphics, visual materials for the venue setup,
printed and digital assets, products and gadgets. I also supported the
ECS team in the development of digital content, including social media materials, scientific infographics and communication assets, ensuring visual consistency across all platforms.
The theme of the conference was "Navigating Waters of Change" and the project involved close collaboration with the organizing committee and contributors, translating complex scientific content into a clear, accessible and coherent visual language for a international audience of researchers, students and professionals working in cetacean research and marine conservation.

Visual Identity
The visual identity was applied across all exhibition and spatial materials.
This created a consistent visual language throughout the venue and a clear,
recognizable experience for attendees.

A wide range of materials were created, including printed matter, small paper goods, gadgets and textile items.
This extended the visual system beyond the exhibition setup, creating a unified and recognizable identity across all physical touchpoints of the conference.
