Biodiversity Gateway
Scientific Illustrations
The Biodiversity Gateway is a digital portal designed to connect scientific research and society, offering accessible data, tools and insights that support understanding and protection of ecosystems and biodiversity of the Venetian Lagoon.
In collaboration with the CNR and the Laguna Project, I illustrated
a selection of species found in the Venice Lagoon, highlighting
their characteristics and details.
The total black and white illustrations were
created using mixed media, first on paper
and then finalized digitally.
The scientific illustrations were integrated into digital species sheets
for which I designed the full graphic layout, in line with the Biodiversity Gateway
visual identity. Each sheet presents key information on species identification,
ecology and presence in the lagoon.
The illustrations will also be featured in a book
scheduled for publication in 2026.
